We at Kumira have improved our workflow since yesterday’s incident. Here’s what we’ve done differently.
Precreatrd accounts have been removed. One day in approximately 3-4 months, previously precreated users will be provisioned via invite. BuddyPress will send out an invite instead, which won’t actually create the account, but will merely provide you an opportunity to do so.
We are also migrating our database from a backup to our new system. We won’t send you an email. If you have an old OneODSS ID, you will receive and email asking you to reset your password. This will occur in the next 2-3 days.
Lastly, we will configure long term database backups to ensure that we can rollback our website at any time if there is issues.
On a more personal note, I am coming to terms with a diagnosis I recieved 13 years ago at 16 yards old, bipolar 2. Sometimes, especially at 3 in the morning, I can go spend all night making configuration changes to the system and muck things up. Thank god for database backups and the ability to roll back.
I’ve made other choices that I sadly can’t undo. But today I have decided to introduce a new medication that is likely to help me much more than any other medication (I hope).
I also start school in September, lost some friends that were near and dear to me, lost out on opportunities, have others mercilessly trigger me for no reason at all, and two people who want to erase me off the map. None of that has stopped me from building Kumira.
I’m personally sorry if your information was mishandled in any way, and the resolution and resilience of these issues, and to the same regarding the reliability of ODSSBC’s networks provides a basis for community trust, and the ability for those to trust our service. The stress of everything is getting to me.
Lastly, we are learning proper data management techniques, and doing what we can to limit the amount of abuse on our platforms.
Thank you for your patience during this difficult migration and as I go through a difficult time in my life with a lot of transitions happening at once.
